Irish Arts Center

Founded in 1972, Irish Arts Center is a New York-based arts and cultural center dedicated to projecting a dynamic image of Ireland and Irish America for the 21st century, building community with audiences of all backgrounds, and preserving the stories and traditions of Irish culture for generations to come.

Written by Raymond Scannell, performed by him at a grand piano, and winner of the Best Male Performance award at Dublin Fringe Festival 2008, this is a dark satire investigating imitation, authenticity and what happens to a nation that forgets its heritage. Julian Neary has a childhood talent for mimicry which proves to be his escape route from the Ireland of the 80s. Years later he returns to a changed country – and what about the change within? Directed and designed by Tom Creed.
