Richard Tillinghast is a poet, translator, and essayist who lives in South Tipperary. His latest book of poems, his tenth, is Selected Poems, from Dedalus Press. He also translates Turkish poetry and has published a book of essays, Finding Ireland: A Poet’s Explorations of Irish Literature and Culture.

As an American poet living in Ireland, Richard Tillinghast’s poetry explores questions of homeland and cultural transplantation in this series of readings at a variety of venues. His poetry illuminates the interplay between the personal and the political in European and American contexts. As someone who has long been interested in Islamic culture, he also offers insights into the relations between western and eastern cultures.
